We’re on the hunt for a talented and experienced Commercial Finance Business Partner who can proactively partner with the retail channel senior leadership team, using data-driven, value-add insights, reporting, and analysis to optimise the profitability of the channel and its contribution to our omnichannel strategy.

What will I be doing…

Business Partnering

* Build and develop partnering relationships with channel stakeholders
* Act as a trusted advisor to the channel senior leadership team.
* Commercial Analysis and Decision Support
* Provide support to the retail team on analysis of:
* Sales by store / segment / product
* Margin by store / segment / product
* Property costs, particularly rent renegotiations, and store estate planning
* Store payroll, including commission and incentive schemes
* Channel KPIs
* Other ad-hoc projects, process improvements, and business cases.
* Use this analysis to provide insight and highlight trends, anomalies, opportunities and risks.
* Provide decision support for operational activities (particularly payroll initiatives) and build and embed tools to ensure that activities can be planned and reviewed.
* Act as the Finance lead on key operational projects (e.g. Payroll Optimisation project)
* Produce Business cases where necessary (e.g. store opening / closing decisions) and follow up Post-Implementation reviews.

Financial Control

* Work with the management accounts team to review monthly retail P&L vs budget during the month-end close period
* Produce monthly financial and KPI reports with accompanying commentary to agreed deadlines.
* Lead monthly retail P&L review with the retail leadership team and ensure costs are tightly controlled across the retail estate.

Budgeting, Forecasting, and Planning

* Working with the retail leadership team to prepare the annual budget for sales, margin, and costs across the retail estate
* Work with the channel leadership teams on the regular forecasting process, ensuring that risks and opportunities are quantified, accurately forecast, and communicated.

Information and Reporting:

* Use the new BI tool to make reporting more effective and efficient
* Champion the use of the BI tool and the new ‘Retail Dashboard’ within the business
* Work with IT teams to highlight and resolve any data anomalies
* Prepare manual Daily / Weekly / Monthly reporting on sales, margin, and KPIs, where necessary.

* Newly Qualified accountant with approx. 4-6 years experience
* Can demonstrate examples of using insights to influence decision making amongst senior leaders
* Proven business-partnering experience with senior leadership teams
* Experience in delivering budgets and forecasts
* Experience in leading P&L review meetings
* Advanced excel skills
* Experience of Retail/FMCG desirable
* Good understanding of systems and processes, particularly reporting and BI systems.
